Regular Council Meeting
May 21, 2001
Page 15
OPEN PORTION - 3 minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state
their name and address. This open portion is limited to discussion pertaining to the items under
"New Business" only.
Mr. Jim Farmer, 6515 Derby Driv - said he is very disappointed in the vote that Council gave us
[P&Z]. The first time I am aware of you discussing it was at the Caucus which I was at and it was
discussed only about 10 minutes. We have probably devoted at least one meeting a month to
looking into these recommendations. From what I heard in the Caucus and today, all the no votes
and you gave no discussion. I don't know where you discuss this at length to come up with this
decision. I feel like I wasted a year of time on Planning and Zoning. I wish you could have given
us some direction as we went along-we invited you to participate with us from the beginning but
you decided you didn't want to be part of these efforts. You are trying to get volunteers to work
within the Village and this is what we get. I have other things I can volunteer my time for. I am
very disappointed.
ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
CLOSING COMMENTS
Mr. Buckholtz said he will respond even though Jim is not here any longer. I said it Caucus but I
didn't know if we wanted to go into all the discussion over it. It is a big package here that has
been put on the table and there are parts I was in favor of but as a package I was not
Mrs. Mills addressed Council President Marquardt and asked what would be your direction as
Council President-what should be taken back to Planning and Zoning-as far as this rejection?
You requested them to do the job. They did the job and you weren't happy. The thing that we
have to do is to get together with them as a body-Council and Planning and Zoning. We did
have meetings-you know when our meetings are; they are posted. I don't know what to say to
these gentlemen. It is very disheartening to go through all of these exercises and do all of this
work and hope you would look at something-not just give it a package. I think you should
have attacked it a little bit differently and said what do you think of this, this and this-itemize
them like you do other things. I may be wrong but I don't think so.
Mrs. Mills reminded everyone to attend the Insurance Meetings on June 11 and 24. Thanks to
Doug Metzung and the Service Department for putting up with the Garden Club at the Pancake
Breakfast.
Council President Marquardt said in response to Mrs. Mills, I did read all the minutes, I did
attend many of the meetings, in my opinion the package that was put forward was not a package
that would be acceptable.
Mrs. Mills said wouldn't it have been better if we would have looked at each one of the changes
and each part of the ordinance.
