Regular Council Meeting
8-13-01
Page 10
Council President Marquardt asked if there were any comments.
Mr. Brett said he will be passing out the Fiscal Officer's Certificate for this ordinance at this
time. (He distributed it to Council.)
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
First Reading of Ordinance No. 2001-13, entitled; "An ordinance to provide for the issuance
and sale of $500,000 of notes of Mayfield Village, Ohio, in anticipation of the issuance of bonds
for the purpose of acquiring certain real estate and the buildings thereon for Municipal functions,
and declaring an emergency." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring an
ordinance to be read on three separate occasions.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Rules Suspended
Mr. Busa, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2001-13.
Mr. Brett said he will be passing out the Fiscal Officer's Certificate for this portion of the note
issue at this time. (He distributed it to Council.)
Mr. Ilacqua said he would like to reiterate the fact that he is displeased, unhappy and concerned
that we find ourselves in this position of financing a half-million dollars for the acquisition of
First United Methodist Church. We unanimously approved of that decision based on the fact that
we would pay cash for it. This is not paying cash. This is debt financing. I think we have to
watch our future recommendations and purchases that we don't find ourselves in this position
again; that position being we think we can pay for it out of cash then we realize down the road
we can't.
Council President Marquardt asked if there were any further comments.
There were none.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
Executive Session (Real Estate)
