Regular Council Meeting
8-13-01
Page 11
Council President Marquardt asked for a motion to recess into Executive Session for the purposes of
discussing real estate.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Ilacqua, made a motion to recess into Executive Session for the
purposes of discussing real estate.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Council recessed into Executive Session at 9:10 p.m.
Council reconvened at 9:45 p.m. (Mr. Ilacqua was not present; he left the meeting during the
Executive Session.)
OPEN PORTION - 3-minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state
their name and address. This open portion is limited to discussion pertaining to the items under
"New Business" only.
There were no comments.
ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
CLOSING COMMENTS
Mayor Rinker said the discussion earlier during the meeting regarding SPAN is a good example
of taking time for dealing with sensitive issues. He knows Chief Stevens was put to the task and
he appreciates Council President Marquardt's comment about that because he had asked that
Chief Stevens do it. He knows that based on his experience with SPAN, there is a certain
visibility to all of this. We can all agree, for different reasons perhaps, but it is nice to be able to
say that an issue that caused people to give some second thoughts but a difficult issue got
handled, ultimately, with some preriy good sensitivity and thoroughness. We are dealing with a
number of different communities on this. It was refreshing to see overall how this went.
Mrs. Cinco said the Drainage & Infrastructure Committee can meet September 6. She asked that
someone let her know whether morning or afternoon is more convenient. She was sad to see that
the Architectural Review Board approved the green roof for TrueNorth. She has been receiving
a number of complaints. There is a TrueNorth at Brainard and Wilson Mills with a green
TrueNorth sign but no green roof and it looks nice. She is disappointed with how that looks.
Mr. Busa asked why we can't get the weeds down on our property on S.O.M. Center Road and
the dead trees. He knows it is a lot of work; we should contract it out or something. Some of the
weeds are 20-30' tall.
Mr. Metzung said duly noted.
