MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
August 27, 2001
The Council of Mayfield Village met in special session on Monday, August 27, 2001 at
5:34 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council President Bill
Marquardt presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ilacqua,
Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Mills and Dr. Parker
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Diemert (5:38 p.m.), Mr. Metzung,
and Mrs. Roman
A anotion to reject the bids received for the Parkview Pool Painting & Sandblasting Project
Mr. Ilacqua, seconded by Mr. Buckholtz, made a motion to reject the bids received for the
Parkview Pool Painting & Sandblasting Project.
Council President Marquardt asked if there was any discussion.
Mrs. Cinco asked if we are being pennywise and pound foolish because we if we don't do it this
year, we will have to paint it next year.
Mrs. Mills said we talked about doing some interim repairs this year.
Mrs. Cinco said that's what I mean. It was patched last year Is the patchwork more than last year--
areawise?
Mr. Metzung said I won't know that until we drain the pool. It comes down to the question: what
extent is the patchwork going to be?
Mayor Rinker said I would imagine we are at a point where it is staving off the inevitable. If it is
arguable cost effective, I guess we don't know. The problem we had this year was in the spring
when it was power washed, we thought we had everything lifted up so that should have done it.
Then, no sooner did we fill it then a new problem comes in. That is why we indicated in the
beginning because it was right after it filled up that we thought the best way to go is to do it all down
to the bone and then rebuild it again. The cost of that is something, to my understanding, everybody
winces at and I can't blame them. What did we spend this year on the washing?
Mr. Metzung said we do the washing on our own.
Mayor Rinker said it's something we can live with, it was just unfortunate to have everything
looking good and then have a floor of the pool that has zits all over it.
