Special Council Meeting
8-27-01
Page 3
Mrs. Cinco and Mrs. Mills said they would like to wait to see how the pool looks [when it is
drained.]
A motion to authorize an expenditure in the amount of $ 2,900 to 1oTorthern Tool Company for
a Northstar 10 horsepower diesel generator for Ladder Truck #621.
Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mr. Ilacqua, made a motion to approve.
Council President Marquardt asked if there were any comments.
Dr. Parker said his understanding from reading the memo is that a lot of trucks are having this
problem. Is it something that they should be responsible for or not?
Mr. Ilacqua said I would assume if it were under warranty it would have been covered, so it is
probably not.
Mrs. Mills said the truck is a 1993 so it is probably out of warranty.
Council President Marquardt asked how often we use this thing.
No one knew.
Mrs. Cinco said she thinks that when you need it, you need it.
Council President Marquardt said it sounds like we should have gone back to the manufacturer.
Dr. Parker said it seems that this is not an uncommon thing and maybe there is a defect.
Mayor Rinker suggested Council approve it subject to confirmation that that effort has been made or
will be made.
Council President Marquardt said we will revise the motion and make it conditional upon
investigation with the manufacturer. Council President Marquardt and I would suggest that these
kind of issues should not be on a Special Meeting; they should go through the process. I didn't
review the agenda before the meeting, but we should try to avoid those so we can answer these
questions.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
A motion to authorize Jim I3opkins of Corporate Plans, Inc. to be the Agent of Record for
Health and Term Life Insurance for employees of Mayfield Village effective as of this date
