It seemed the -ci#y and vaalage jus#.could de#ermine the pr.o.blem_ F,rom day one
it was either the new home being built across the street, the hydrant flushings, the 2-
1/2 years of new sewer projects in #he area,.-our.home hook up sevver. proj$ct, -or the
filling of the old septic tank. Finally it was stated that maybe it could be the old pipes
in my home that needed to be replaced. The hydran# across from us had been
changed, the sewer projects were completed. We were at a loss for what it could be.
My husband and i feffvirith no answer.to our.dilemma, we would have our
pipes in the bathroom area changed outside. The decision came when violent
sputtering of the toilets gave way to loads of thick.rust resirlue coming -up from our
bathtub faucets and drains, toilets and up through our kitchen sink.
Still after the exp.ensive pipes.replacements, no end to the periodic rust
problems. Our clothes continue to be ruined in these occurrences, out children still
screbRabaut takin,g a batn.in this water, and we.siiJl have o-ur.childr.en.asKif it's.safe to
drink the water today.
To further this aggravation, the city has forgotten to include certain Worton Park
homes when adding yearJy sewer mai-ntenance frontage costs to otir taxes for.over
two years. This ends up being a huge unexpected cost to us. Several calls were
made to the Village concerning this problem, as well as to the city.
It's an outrageous situation I feel to be paying high taxes as weil as these new
additional sewer maintenance costs when I have received no satas#actiora with my
problems. Does .this seem right? I also feel with the continued problem of rusty
water, how could I even sell my home and get a fair market price or interested buyers
without this being corrected. Surely once this problem is disclosed, who would want
to take on #-his aggravation and health issue. I woUldn't.
In the beginning of this year, Channel 8 came to my door and asked if I would
be willing to be filmed and talk about the rusty water situataon. I did accept in hopes
this would help matters. I gave a short version of what has been taken place. My
neighbor across the strest in a new home was also ge#tang rusty water arad was in
touch with the Cleveland Department of Engineers. After three times of flushing her
hydrant, they suggested #he city water department should check the Pipes for
corrosion.
So now the Village knows of a sewer pipe that is not up to the code that needs
replacemen#. a respectfully ask tha# you would consider aur avvful and dirty rusty water
