0

MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
November 19, 2001
The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, November 19, 2001 at
8:00 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council President Bill
Marquardt presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ilacqua,
Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Mills and Dr. Parker
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Ms. Calta, Mr. Cappello, Lt. Dearden,
Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr, Mr. Samac, Mr. Thomas and
Mrs. Roman
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
OPEN PORTION
Mr. Ed Sullivan, Hanover Woods thanked Mayor Rinker, Council and the Administration for
allowing them to present a petition which has been signed by a number of residents (not just
from Hanover Woods) relating to the above ground gas regulator at the corner of Hanover and
Wilson Mills. This is a follow up to their correspondence of 2 years ago. They hope to
accelerate action and would like: (a) someone to address their safety concerns as soon as
possible regarding relocating the regulator; and (b) to provide Mr. Sullivan with periodic update
as to tlie status of the East Ohio Gas Regulator.
Mr. Sullivan gave the original petition to Mrs. Roman. The original will be attached to the
minutes of this meeting as a permanent record. Copies will be attached to the minutes and
placed in the Hanover Woods East Ohio Gas Regulator file.
Mr. Sullivan provided the history behind the regulator. He explained that it goes back more than
2 years when the gas regulator was put in. Residents felt that besides being an eyesore, it posed
safety concerns. If it were hit, it could be catastrophic. If evacuation were necessary, you would
have to go past the point of impact (where the problem was.) Two years have gone by and the
gas valve regulator is still there. They hope the Village will move quickly to get it on track.
Because of the upcoming holidays, Mr. Sullivan requested that the Village get back to him
within 60 days. He thinks there are a couple of locations that would be better. The Gas
Company had advised that if they could install one at another location, they would be able to
eliminate others.
Mr. Sullivan and Council President Marquardt asked if any other members of the Homeowner's
Association wished to comment.
