12-17-01
Page 24
Mrs. Mills said I attended a District Advisory Council Meeting for the Board of Health. It was a
Special Meeting because they had to elect a new member to the Board because someone was
leaving. Also, they had to sanction a 15-member Equalization Board which they took care of
very promptly. I also would like to thank the Service Department for all the work they did for
the Garden Club Craft Show. We are now able to give a very substantial scholarship again this
year. Thank you to Doug Metzung. Also thank you to Vince.
Mr. Brett said good luck to Mr. Busa and his family.
Council President Marquardt said I would like to echo Mr. Ilacqua's comments. Vince, it has
been an honor serving on Council with you. Your experience has been invaluable. He invited
everyone to stay for cake (for Mr. Busa.)
Council President Marquardt read the comments from Mr. Busa as follows:
"To: Mayor, President of Council and Council Members:
From: Councilman-at-Large Vince J. Busa
Needless to say I have always enjoyed my role as a public official and my performance was
always to the best of my ability. With the best interest of Mayfield Village always in mind, and
also my oath of office.
It was always my belief that to be elected by your neighbors was a matter of trust, privilege and
honor, and not to be misused or abused whatsoever.
Over the 28 years I always called it like I saw it. I voted my conscience, and always with the
best interest of the residents. I wouldn't change a thing, and I have no regrets.
At one time or another I have served on every Conunittee, Commission and Board, and in
addition to being a former Mayor, Chairman of the original Charter Commission who helped
write the present laws, and Judge of Mayor's Domestic and Traffic Court.
This Administration is very fortunate to have an excellent caliber of knowledgeable and hard-
working citizens, to serve on Council and to be surrounded by a very effective and efficient
group of Department Heads and their staff. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have worked
with this organization and to be considered one of them. I want to thank the Mayor and Council
for their understanding and patience on occasion, and for their helping me over the rough spots
when I needed it.
I would be remiss in my duty if I did not mention my dear wife Jean and my sons for their
patience and cooperation. They were invaluable, and without their understanding and support, I
would have accomplished very little, if anything at all.
To sum up in brief: It has been a pleasure, Good Luck and Carry On!"
