MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
December 17, 2001
The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, December 17, 2001 at
8:04 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council President Bill
Marquardt presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ilacqua,
Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Mills and Dr. Parker
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Mr. Diemert,
Mr. Hovancsek, Mr. Metzung, Lt. Porter, Chief Stevens,
Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Roman
Mrs. Roman said Mr. Samac is on vacation.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
OPEN PORTION
Mrs. Irene Kay, 1835 Beham Drive, Ma eld Hei hts said she is a member of the Coalition for
Affordable Prescription Drugs which is on tonight's agenda under Resolution No. 2001-10. This
resolution urges the passage of the Ohio Prescription Drug Fair Pricing Act. HB 290 and SB 127
would address these issues. We want to show the state legislators that we support this
legislation. Many Ohioans have no health insurance or are underinsured. A great many
communities and organizations have already given their endorsement including Mayf'ield
Heights, Solon and the Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners. Mrs. Kay said she is urging
the Mayfield Village Council to pass a resolution expressing support of these two bills.
7eff Schiemann, 845 Hanover Road. Mavfield Village - said he has been in the Village for 22
years. Mr. Schiemann said he is here tonight to ask Council to amend tonight's agenda to include
a first reading on the proposed rezoning of three parcels located on Wilson Mills Road just west
of the Church. Council should have just received some documents and a set of plans. Mr.
Schiemann said he would appreciate having this item brought up sometime later. I have had the
opportunity to speak with most of Council outside of Mr. Buckholtz. (He left 2 voice mails
today for Mr. Buckholtz.) Amending of the agenda and the first reading are necessary to set the
issue on course for the May ballot. He asked if it would be appropriate for him to reserve
discussion of that issue until the issue was possibly brought up to be discussed.
Council President Marquardt said if it is going to be brought up, it will be brought up later.
Mr. Schiemann said he will save discussion for then.
