Organizational Council Meeting
Page 3 Council President Marquardt asked if there was any discussion.

There were no comments.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Appointments Approved
Mayor Rinker thanked Council and said notices [to the respective appointees] will go out this
week inviting them to attend the Regular Meeting on January 24t'' to be sworn in.
¦ A motion to approve the creation of a S.O.M. Center Road Working Committee
Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Ilacqua, made a motion to approve the creation of a S.O.M. Center
Road Working Committee.
Council President Marquardt asked if there was any discussion.
Mrs. Cinco asked if we can make comments at this time as to how it was written up or do you
just want it generalized to approve the committee in title only? Or, are we approving the whole
make-up?
Council President 1Vlarquardt said this is for discussion. The committee is what I ha.d outlined
which I felt it was a reasonable approach in trying to ma.intain a balance and also given the time
frame that we are looking at. So, yes, you can make comments.
Mrs. Cinco said iri reading this over, I feel the necessity for the police chief and fire chief to be
very much involved because we are dealing with safety and some of their items need to be put in
and be alerted to right in the beginning; and absolutely, our P&Z Chairman. I don't know if we
need 3 from Council along with their appointments? I have all these questions and I think that
definitely the Mayor needs to be a part of this committee.
Council President Marquardt said I looked at the Mayor's suggestions, I talked to a number of
people. With the timing of the issue and to try to get some balance of folks on board to work on
the committee and to work within the confines of what was set down by Council, and I looked at
it that we should get a balanced miar of a small group, (trying to stay within about 7 people) and
for those folks to call on the resources that they need--including Police, Fire and Planning. And,
one person from Planning and Zoning is to be appointed. The other organizations, as talking to
the Mayor, really should be more of a resource to the committee as far as providing input. I also
suggested that the Mayor not be on the Committee so that it would retain the balance and also
make it something tha.t would serve as a recommending body with those determinations to be
made. It is not to exclude any participation. Being 3 members on Couiicil, they would all be
pubic meetings and I would hope that everyone that is interested would attend those meetings
and be part of the discussion process and provide their 'iriput. But looking at it, I thought that 7
people was a reasonable number. To get some representation from the comnaunity, I felt that one
