Regular Council Meeting
2-21-00
Page 5
Board decided on the shade structures for Parkview Pool; received fliers on youth summer camp
and softball and made a decision to go with 2 or 3 scholarships for the Debbie Hudacko 5 Mile
Run--to the High School and one to St. Francis. The camp and youth softball walk-in
registration is March 15; signs will be posted. The Easter Party is Apri115. They also discussed
stafFmg of the Parkview Pool snack bar for the season.
Sewer Liaison Committee - Mr. Buckholtz said there was no report.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Cable Review Committee - Mr. Ilacqua said his understanding is that things are status quo. Mr.
Diemert can elaborate. The two open items rema.ining are wiring of the Upper 40 and
preferential treatment for seniors. Council received a copy of a letter from Cablevision -as the
grantors we do have the right to approve the sale of Cablevision to to Adelphia. We had 120
days to respond to the letter from the day of the letter. He asked if Mr. Diemert had heard from
Carol.
Mr. Diemert said he had spoken to her Friday and again today. They are ready to go full swing.
He sent a letter last week saying we are not willing to consider this until we have our contract
fmalized. I think with CEI easements through Aintree North, there should be no problem with
getting the Upper 40 tied in.
Wage Review Committee - Mr. Ilacqua said the committee met for its final time and has
submitted its final recommendations in memorandum form to Council and Mayor Rinker. We
will be discussing this this evening (in Executive Session.)
S O M Center Road Widening Working Committee - Mr. Ilacqua said the Committee met last
Tuesday. The meetings continue to be very productive. Items worthy of note are that the
Illuminating Company spoke at the last meeting. The approximate cost that they forwarded to us
for the bearing of the power lines on the westerly side of S.O.M. will be 3.8 million dollars. Oiu
original belief (as indicated by Dazlene Johnson, Regional Sales Mana.ger), was one million
dollars per mile which is 2.3 So it came in about 1.5 million above wha.t our expectations were.
Mike Burgess of URS Greiner feels there is room to work with the general contract on the
widening of S.O.M. to perhaps alleviate some of the cost and do it more cost effectively in terms
of burying cable. As well, we are continuing to discuss the movement of our water lines. Mr.
Metzung is going to get us some harder figures there. That is approximately one million dollars.
We have identified 4.8 million dollars not covered by the State funding. We will continue to
work on and discuss those figures.
Mayor Rinker said he thinks we can get the water covered under the Issue II funding.
Mr. Ilacqua said on the 29h, we will have the residents that live along S.O.M. and adjacent to it
at the meeting. We will discuss the revised map (which will be provided by URS Greiner.)
Agendas will be forwarded to Council in this week's packet.
