Center Road Widening Committee <br />that the new surface for S.O.M. Center Road be concrete (versus asphalt) <br />Mr. Busa, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, xnade a motion to accept the recommendation of the S.O.M. <br />Center Road Widening Committee that the new surface for S.O.M. Center Road be concrete (versus <br />asphalt). <br />Mayor Rinker questioned if there was much question regarding long-term maintenance of asphalt <br />versus concrete. <br />Mr. Ilacqua said the Committee looked at this issue closely. They looked at the maintenance and life <br />of the surface. To pour concrete is more expensive but over 30 years it pretty much balances out-- <br />taking into consideration maintenance and replacement of an asphalt surface. <br />Mr. Metzung said that is correct. URS put together a table showing the difference between the two. <br />Concrete is cheaper over the long run. <br />There were no additional comments. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Recommendation Accepted <br />The new surface of S.O.M. Center Road be closed <br />(buried) [versus open (exposed.)] <br />Council President Marquardt asked if there were any comments. <br />Dr. Parker asked if they will cover the costs whether it is closed or open.
