Regular, Council Meeting
3-20-00
Page 10
Council President Marquardt said there will be no action on this item this evening.
A motion to authorize the advertisement for bid for Traffic Signal Preemption (Wilson
Mills from S.O.M. to Lander Road)
Mr. Ilacqua, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to authorize the advertisement for bid for
Traffic Signal Preemption (Wilson Mills from S.O.M. to Lander Road)
Council President Marquardt asked if there were any comments.
There was no discussion.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Advertisement Authorized
A motion to authorize an ezpenditure in the amount of $8,500 to Middlefield Farm and
Garden for the purchase of one Gator for the Fire Department
Mr. Busa, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to authorize an expenditure in the amount of
$8,500 to Middlefield Farm and Garden.
Council President Marquardt said I do not think I can support this one.
Dr. Parker asked if the Police Department could utilize this equipment also.
Chief Mohr said yes.
Mayor Rinker asked for details for the record.
Chief Mohr explained that they have used the Service Department's gator over the past two seasons.
We purchased a"baby stretcher" to put on the unit. It was recently used to carry someone from the
Park who had a broken hip. It was a 15-minute trip to get in and out using a gator. It would have
taken well over an hour to carry her out. A unit like this is the only thing tha.t will get us into the
Wetlands and it is good for brushfires. They were able to use a gator in assisting Lake County with
a search. It is a very useful tool.
Mr. Metzung said the Service Department has two. The problem with sharing with other
departments is that the Service Department is very hard on them.
Mrs. Mills asked if they are considered all terrain.

Chief Mohr said yes. He went down the Upper 40 with one and it took an 8-9 degree angle with no
problem.
