Regular Council Meeting
4-17-00
Page 18
ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
T'here were no other items before Council.
CLOSING COMIVIENTS
Mrs. Mills said about 75 people attended the Arbor Day ceremony today plus the
children from Center School and the band from the Middle School. She thanked Mayor
Rinker for attending and Mr. Metzung for setting up the room.
Council President 1Vdarquardt said he had a question on the flier: Floatable Notables-
since we send out 3 glossy brochures a year--is it really necessary to send out extra
material.
Mr. Thomas said we market the people who use the pool; they may not be Village
residents. The Village residents receive the brochure but other people who use the pool
do not receive the brochures. Only Parkvgew Pool users receive Floatable Notables.
Mayor Rinker said he is very disappointed with the way things turned out and it marks
a disturbing trend. I try to be a leader of this group and this conlmunity. On a number
of occasions when I endeavor to appeal to you I feel it has fallen on deaf ears. I think
this is an issue that we missed a good opportunity as I indicated in the memo. I heard
some votes with no real understanding as to why those votes wexe made. Other people
who did participate, I think I understand where you are coming from. I think the issues
here are worth continued exploring. Even though you shot it down tonight, and I am '
disappointed, I hope there will be more attention paid to some of the issues that are
being raised in a constructive fashion. I respectfully disagree with Council President
Marquardt's characterization. I think that one of the things we have been able to do
over the last several years is demonstrate that we have given some life and certain
flexibility to our zoning provisions, to our Charter provisions. We try to be true to a
pulse of the community. That is what motivates me. That is what I try to do on a
number of occasions. I hope that when you look at this issue as with other issues that
you look closely at what it is I am trying to accomplish.
ADTOURNMENT
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Ilacqua, made a motion to adjourn.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
The meeting adjourned at 10:52 p.m.
