Regular Council Meeting
4-17-00
Page 5
Cable Review Committee - Mr. Ilacqua thanked Mayor Rinker for advising them about
the meeting; he had spoken to Dottie Fox about it and will be attending. Cablevision is
working on contracts with 78 communities including Mayfield Village. He has received
many assurances from Dottie Fox that we will reach a successful conclusion to the
negotiations. One of the current stumbling blocks is the wiring for the Upper 40. He
explained that the cost to Cablevision would be several thousand dollars per pole and
that easements must be obtained from the Park so she is less enthusiastic about the
possibility [of getting cable for the Upper 40 residents] than she once was. She will
continue to look into it and will keep those negotiations open. Also, he understands
that the contract must include language that we approve of the sale of Cablevision to
Adelphia. We have 120 days to approve the transfer of the franchise. Mr. Ilacqua said
he will attend the meeting on May 17. Adelphia is a publicly traded company so he will
secure investor's relations packages for everyone that will outline the company and the
services they provide. The Committee will meet within the next week or two.
Dr. Parker asked if we have talked to the home owners in Upper 40 to see if they really
want service.
Mr. Ilacqua said Mrs. Simek has been helpful in steering us in the right direction. She
would like to see it wired and this is one of the opportunities we will have in terms of
leverage. However, Cablevision is looking at investing upwards of $25,000-$30,000 to
get that wired and there are only 3 homes there (one has a satellite dish.)
Dr. Parker said they may determine it is a financially wise thing to pursue.
Mr. Ilacqua said we have not come to that conclusion yet. Service will not be
interrupted.
Wage Review Committee - Dr. Parker said they will be meeting this evening with the
remainder of Council.
Mr. Samac arrived at this time (8:20 p.m.)

S.O.M. Center Road Widening Committee - Mr. Ilacqua referred to the two memos he
had circulated on behalf of the Committee. One had to do with burying the utility lines.
He would like everyone to give that careful consideration; it is quite an expensive
undertaking (approximately $3 million dollars.) Our two options outside of buryiilg
them in total would be burying them from Wilson Mills to Highland or to bury them
from Highland to White-or, to not bury them at all and let C.E.I. incur the cost of
moving the poles back. We need to move forward on maldng a decision on that issue.
He urged everyone to attend future meetings. He explained the other part of the memo
was regarding O.D.O.T.'s need to know what we are doing with the money prior to
