1-28-02
Page 10
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Eunice Kalina as Human Services Director.
Mayor Rinker said Eunice has the challenging task of coordinating our Commission on Aging
activities. Her support in that organization is absolutely unchallenged. She is much loved and
respected and is very essential to a very important part of our community. We appreciate all that
you provide for our citizens.
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Chris Casey as the Mayor's appointment to the
Commission on Aging.
Mayor Rinker said there used to be a t.v. show that talked about the fickled finger of fate and it
seems to move around on issues and certain organizations. Right now the fickled finger of fate is on
Planning & Zoning because as you've seen tonight, there is an issue pending before this body,
among many others, similar to Board of Appeals, but in a broader scale, Planning and Zoning issues
are always important issues that require attention, a sense of continuity, honoring the past and
looking forward to the future. Mr. Marrotte has been an old hand at this and I look forward to your
continued service.
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Wes Marrotte.
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Shirley Flugari and Nancy Plastine as members of
the Records Commission.
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Dave Perout as a member of the Parks & Recreation
Board. (No other members to be sworn in this year were present.)
Council President Buckholtz said we will have other appointments at future meetings.
Mayor Rinker said insofar as we had a list that had been compiled earlier in the month that Council
was able to look at and since that time have heard from members on Council and members of the
community--I believe the more the merrier. We really do want people involved. For those of you
who did show up tonight, please understand we will have a second round of the additional
[appointments] and look forward to swearing you in as soon as possible.
• A motion to authorize an expenditure not to exceed $3,500 to Ballash Press (for the
Spring 2002 Issue of the VOV)
Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mr. Marrie, made a motion to authorize an expenditure not to exceed
$3,500 to Ballash Press.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
A motion to authorize an expenditure in the amount of $5,030 to Cedar Point for
Admissions (Parks & Recreation trip)
