2-18-02
Page 15
ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
Dr. Parker: I want to make sure we stay on top of the gas regulator issue. I haven't heard
anything. Is there anything to report?
Mr. Metzung: I talked to Mr. Harris today; no.
Dr. Parker: I am concerned we will be hearing from residents and want to make sure we have
somewhere to go.
Mayor Rinker: Let's recap. The two primary locations are either adjacent to the Methodist
Church building or adj acent to Laurie Blood's house (Hunt Circle; at the southwest corner of the
Church property.) They had been toying with the idea of the school board property but that
doesn't seem to be viable. It must be within a certain radius of the intersection.
Dr. Parker: Is behind the Fire Station an option?
Mr. Metzung: We met some internal problems there but it wasn't one of the better ones.
Mayor Rinker: Can you be more specific re "better?"
' Mr. Metzung: It doesn't meet the gas company's needs as well.
Mayor Rinker: Is that a"no" or a"not crazy about it?"
Mr. Metzung: Not crazy about it.
Mayor Rinker: If they have no other options, are they going to go with it? I think we need to
have those discussions.
Mr. Metzung: T'he closer they are to the center of town, the better off they are.
Dr. Parker: Does that mean they have to put more money into it or upgrade the facility to some
extent?
Mr. Metzung: They may not be able to remove a113 regulators that they are hoping the remove.
Mayor Rinker: Is there anywhere on the Fire Station property that is feasible?
Mr. Metzung: It would have to be on the south side.
Mr. Samac: The southwest side near where the tower is. One of the problems is that area is
completely loaded with utilities underground.
Mayor Rinker: What kind of structure are they looking at? What about southeast?
