2-18-02
Page 6
Finance Committee - Mr. Ilacqua cited those present at the Finance Committee Meeting held
earlier this evening. (See attached agenda for items discussed.) Discussion on item #8 will be
deferred until the Executive Session later this evening. All other items were recommended for
approval. Additional comments: Regaxding Item #2, we have received payment from Highland
Heights which will be applied to this [Opticom equipment purchase] to lower the cost to $7,000.
Regarding item #5, this is to add 2 fire hydrants on the east side of S.O.M.; this is essentially part
of the S.O.M. widening process. We have the opportunity to add 2 fire hydrants at Hickory Hill
and Metro Park on the west side. Regarding Item #7, Mr. Thomas provided the committee with
a list of all previous employees and what their hourly rates were (if anyone wants_to take a look
at those lists, I am sure he will provide them for you; it is a good way of tracking a head count.)
Items #9 and #10 were in line with the percentage given employees. Regarding item #11, this is
for repair of a manhole and existing sewer on Echo Drive. We discussed this at Caucus.
Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mrs. Cinco said there has been no meeting.
Historical Societv - Mrs. Mills: Track lighting for the basement display and tools is being
considered at this time. The schoolroom desks are ready to be put in place. Landscaping of the
front yard is waiting for Spring. We have found a new source for our memorial bricks to be
inscribed in our area. This will speed up our orders and placement of the bricks. We still have
plenty of room in the sidewalks if you don't have a brick there.
M.A.R.C - Mrs. Cinco: M.A.R.C. met on February 7. The slate officers was presented for
2002: George Hughes as President and Kathy Sbrocco as Vice President. The programs were
discussed.
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt: Ordinance Review met February 12 to discuss
the practicality of an outdoor lighting ordinance. This will take a little more research to see
whether that is practical or not.
Planning and Zoning - Mr. Marquardt: Planning and Zoning held an Organizational Meeting on
February 4. Officers were elected. There was also a discussion on an upcoming workshop on
February 21. At that time there were only 2large items on the agenda: (1) The Special Use
Permit for Georgian Center and (2) The Rezoning Request. Since that time, we've also added the
preliminary site plan for the Goldberg property.
Recreation Board - Mr. Marrie: The Spring/Summer Parks & Recreation Brochure was recently
mailed to residents. I must compliment Bill and staff for an outstanding job on this. Everybody
should have it in the mail by now. There will be a meeting on February 20. We will do the
updates for the Easter Party (March 23). We will also discuss the Debbie Hudacko scholarship
and the new 2020 Vision Committee.
Sewer Liaison Committee - Council President Buckholtz: No report.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES
S.O.M. Center Road Widening Committee - Mr. Ilacqua: The Committee met February 5. They
