Regular Council Meeting
3-18-02
Page 2
Mayor Rinker said he had sent notices to the different Village organizations about a P&Z
workshop to be held this Thursday. It is regarding a relatively new request, and he thinks
everyone would be well advised to attend. There is a proposal for a cluster-style residential
development between Fisher's Tavern and Mt. Vernon. This is something unique for us and will
take a good, close look from all of us.
Mayor Rinker said he felt remiss that we have not had another 2020 Vision Meeting. He will
send out a notice this week and will try to get everyone there convened and get everyone
motivated to self-start the process.
COMMENTS FROM, COUNCIL PRESIDENT BUCKHOLTZ '
Mr. Buckholtz had no comments at this time.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS
Service - Mr. Metzung reported on the water line progress. We have cleared the final two
hurdles in completing the loop line (the State of Ohio giving us permission to tie in at Highland
and C.E.I. giving us an easement through their property.) That part of the project will commence
as soon as possible. The main line work is almost completed. As-built drawings will be
delivered so they can begin chlorination of the project. They will chlorinate and tie in the service
lines to everyone's homes and they will be done--maybe in 3 weeks or so.
Buildin? - Mr. Samac said to expand on what Mayor Rinker said earlier concerning the request
for the cluster housing--in addition to the formal application he had, he expects in the very near
future we will have other formal requests for the same type of zoning in a few other areas around
the Village. As soon as those requests are formalized, he will forward those requests to
everyone.
En 'ni?g - Mr. Cappello said we opened bids for the Worton Park waterline project on
Friday, March 15. We are presently reviewing the low bidder's qualifications and references.
Council President Buckholtz said my understanding on that is that we don't know too much
about the bidder.
Mr. Cappello said correct; there were 10 bidders.
Fire - Chief Mohr said we had 12 calls during the windstorm last week. The peak gust in town
was 56 mph on the weather station.
Parks & Recreation - Mr. Thomas announced that the annual Easter Party (lunch and egg hunt)
will be held on Saturday March 23 at noon. We compared statistics: at this time last year, we
