MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
Apri122, 2002
The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, Apri122, 2002 at 8:00 p.m.
in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council President Bill Buckholtz
presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ilacqua, Mr. Marquardt,
Mr. Marrie, Mrs. Mills and Dr. Parker
Absent: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Samac, Chief Stevens
Also Present: Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Lt. Dearden, Mr. Hanculak, Mr. Metzung,
Chief Mohr, Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Roman
Mrs. Roman said Mayor Rinker will not be here this evening; he has a previous commitment.
Bernie Samac will not be here this evening.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
OPEN PORTION
Mr. Bob Baker Treasurer• MaYfield Citv School District (Rose Blvd., Highland Hei ts)
introduced George Hughes, Mayfield Board of Education Vice President. The Mayfield Board
of Education is on the ballot for a 6.9 mill proposed tax levy for current expenses on May 7. The
levy proposals will be used to pay for general operations such as salaries for personnel, purchase
of books, supplies, equipment and other operating costs. (He had distributed a handout just
prior to the meeting.) The handout lists some things that we are proud of at Mayf'ield Schools
and some of the critical challenges for the need of the operating levy. Mr. Baker cited a few
highlights: Mayfield Schools has gone 7 years without a new current expense millage levy. The
issue costs the owner of a$100,000 home about $17/month (for each $100,000 in value.) The
School District'S effective rates and other information is included. Dr. Price is unable to be here
this evening. He wanted me to pass along to you what a great community Mayfield Village is
and what a great neighbor you have been to the schools. The Police Chief and Fire Chief have
been very helpful in many events at the schools. We also appreciate Bill Thomas for his work
with Barb Gyulai in Adult Education. I personally thank Phil Brett for his tremendous ability to
answer any questions I might have on Finance-related issues. Of course, we'd like to thank
Mayor Rinker and all the Council members for their support of the Mayfield Schools.
Council President Buckholtz said he appreciates Mr. Baker coming. There is a resolution on
tonight's agenda and he will have something else in a moment.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any other comments from the audience.
There were none.
