Regular Minutes
5-20-02
Page 7
Mr. Christian asked if his van that he uses for work, there is nothing on it, there is nothing that
says anything on it, nothing hanging off of it, is that fine?
Council President Buckholtz said that is fine.
A lady in the audience - said if you are a working individual, own your own company and have a
commercial vehicle you drive--so now you have to build a structure to house it, with permits etc.
but it is okay to park a real, big, pretty truck with huge wheels because it is pretty--no signage in
your front yard--and that is okay?
Mr. Samac said that is not a commercial vehicle and it is a permitted use in a residential area.
The ladv in the audience said this is permitted but her cornmercial vehicle that she makes a living
off of isn't.
Council President Buckholtz said this [ordinance] has been in the Village since 1962. We are
trying to clean it up and we are doing our best to try to accommodate people who make their
living out of it. The way it is written now, it is clear from the standpoint of the Judge's
interpretation of it and what she can enforce. Once again, any vehicle over a certain size (it
doesn't matter whether it has a sign on it or not)--a dump truck, a semi is not allowed. What we
have done is lighten up the ordinance a little bit by permitting vehicles that do not carry the
signage or equipment. Council President Buckholtz said what you are talking about may get into
recreational vehicles which is an entirely different ordinance which I am sure we will deal with
sometime in the future. Inasmuch as we have worked on this as much as any reasonable
legislative body can, he would like to call for a vote.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted as Amended
• A motion to authorize a change order to URS Greiner for grant preparation for Nature
Works
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to authorize a change order to URS Greiner for
grant preparation for Nature Works.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any comments.
Mr. Ilacqua noted that URS Greiner should read URS Corp.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Change Order to URS Corp.
