Regular Council Meeting
7-15-02
Page 2
CbMMENTS FROM 1VIAYOR RINKER
Mayor Rinker was not present.
COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIbENT BUCKHOLTZ
No comments.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS
Finance - Mr. Brett reported, at this time I will be distributing a copy of the Fiscal Officer's
Certificate for the assurance of the Bond Anticipation Notes in September.
Parks & Recreation - Mr. Thomas reported, the weather has been outstanding this season. Our
pool attendance is up compared to 2001. As of July 15, we have sold 979 individual passes. Our
attendance through June is 6,448. So, the weather has certainly played a major emphasis in that.
We had 81 whitewater rafters attend with us at Ohio Pyle last Friday with a very enjoyable event
and a lot of people had a great time. I mentioned the excursion to Put-in-Bay; we have 55 people
signed up and that goes this Wednesday leaving at 7:30 and returning about 9:30 at night. All
summer camps are running very smoothly and they will be concluding no later than the 2dh of
July. We had approximately 200 runners and walkers participate in the 13th Annual Debbie
Hudacko 5-mile and 2-mile run on July 8. It was good for everybody. All of our youth softball
travel and in-house leagues are winding down for the season and weather has made it a great
success again. The fall Parks & Recreation Brochure is now being worked on and will be in the
homes by mid-August.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Activities Committee - Mrs. Roman said the Activities Committee members volunteered at the
July 4th (July 6t) Celebration and are beginning the summer concerts. The first one was held last
Thursday. The second one will be held this Thursday. They will continue through the end of
August.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said, at our Architectural Review Board meeting on
July 11, we did approve one addition for a residential dwelling, denied a canopy for Aladdin's
across the street and also denied another addition for lack of better information on the drawings.
(It will be submitted later.)
Board of Appeals - Mr. Samac said, our last meeting was on June 18. We had 2 agenda items.
One was for a detached garage involving side-yard height and area variances. That application
was denied. We also had a variance request to allow outdoor eating for summer months at
Aladdin's eatery across the street, which was granted to allow them a small amount of tables and
