Special Council Meeting
9-9-02
Page 6
Board of Appeals, that would be the motion at that time. So, you've got a motion to affirm,
you've got a motion that either in the affirmance or the denial language accepting the
modification or a reversal altogether. So, it's affirm, modify by either accepting or denying that
modification and the third one would be a reversal.
Council President Buckholtz said we clearly put it to the applicant that he needed to modify his
project to even be considered by this body. Therefore, we are looking for a motion on the
modification. To affirm, to accept or deny the modified plan. Do I have such a motion?
Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mr. Marrie, made a motion to accept the modified plan brought forth to
us from Mr. Mills for a proposed garage.
Council President Buckholtz asked, any further discussion?
Dr. Parker said one more question, Mr. Mills. As far as concrete is concerned, I know in the
neighborhood I live in they routinely color their concrete and I know this is kind of a crazy thing
maybe-but is it possible for the section that will be going further back (that wouldn't be part of
what you would consider your typical driveway area) to be (as we stated) conditioned not to have
cars but maybe to be colored maybe green, beige. We do it routinely where we live and it looks
pretty good. Just as another step aesthetics wise.
Mr. Mills said I was even thinking of using some of the stenciling that actually makes it look like
block or like a cobblestone road. It's stenciled and there are forms almost like a cookie cutting -
type thing that you lay down-would be possible, too.
Dr. Parker said that's all I wanted to know.
Council President Buckholtz said so we have a motion on the floor to affirm the plan as modified
and the modifications are: He reduced the size of the building and moved it further back so as to
be less obtrusive to his immediate neighbors.
A gentleman in the audience said I have a question: To reduce the size from what to what?
Council President Buckholtz said I think we stated that earlier.
The gentleman in the audience said you are allowed 675 square feet.
Council President Buckholtz said we are aware of that. With all due respect, we've been through
that. We understand that it is a variance above the amount.
The gentleman in the audience said, so what is he asking-from what to what? How many
square feet did he start with and now he wants to reduce it to what?
Council President Buckholtz said I believe he has taken 2 or 3' off the length of the building.
