Special Council Meeting
9-9-02
Page 8
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2002-32.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
Bids for Generator -Mrs. Mills asked, can we amend the agenda to go out for bid on the
generator?
Council President Buckholtz asked if everyone is in agreement that Chief Mohr can go out for
bids on the generator?
Everyone agreed.
Mosquito Spraying -Council President Buckholtz asked, is everyone aware that Worton Park
Drive did get sprayed on Sunday and we will be sprayed again on Thursday.
Mrs. Cinco said all residents were notified.
Council President Buckholtz said yes.
Mrs. Cinco said I want to congratulate you for doing that. My daughter's street has been sprayed
twice without any notification whatsoever.
Mayor Rinker said Mr. Metzung has been in contact with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health
for the better part of a month now. We've been tracking and we've pretty much gotten the lead
from them. They've been very good (the County) in advising both school districts and
communities. So far this is the only area and predominantly that was triggered by the 12-year-
old-and just so everyone knows, this has never been confirmed but it is related-this is a child
who had-in fact the diagnosis was viral meningitis. There is no correlation known yet but the
County is being very, very cautious and the communities are being sensitive to it. I think that is
why everyone jumped on it very quickly. It got some instant media coverage and kind of raced
through the school system itself. This was why there was such a quick reaction to that.
Otherwise, we are just trying to keep on the same page with the County.
Mrs. Cinco said Lyndhurst said it wasn't even up to them because it was the Board of Health's
doing.
Council President Buckholtz said that is correct. The only community really who hasn't done it
is Shaker Heights. They have their own Board of Health, in house.
Mr. Marquardt asked, why did they instruct people to shut their air conditioners off.
