' \~ Regular Council Meeting 9-23-02 Page 26 Mr. Brett said I will revisit that contract and (cc) it to all of Council. Dr. Parker said a question was asked if there was anything in the contract that related to their ability at this point to get the property back. A comment was made that there was some clause in the contract that allowed them to. Numerous people have mentioned this to me. Mayor Rinker said from the very beginning, everything the Church has done has beenthe subject of all kinds of speculation. They could be laying odds in Vegas for all I know. They've run into quagmire in Chester Township. We've seen that. Their judgement day maybe fast approaching. They got to figure out where their dollars are being spent and what they are going to do. They have indicated to us the fiustration that they have had and it's definitely been something difficult. We've been copied in on some of the fliers and meetings that they have had. They've got to make a decision at some point~whether or not they're going to take this action to Court or whether they're going to change their course. Our arrangement with them I think was always with an understanding that they would have sufficient time to get out, but nobody contemplated that it would take this long. We are probably going to have to revisit at some point during the course of the next year if they don't have a clear plan of action. Whatever our contract is, this body has to ~ '~ make a decision on what extent or changes have to be made to it just in terms of the lease. Council President Buckholtz said let's definitely get a copy of that lease agreement, I'd like to read it. Mayor Rinker said I would suspect, within the year, we're going to know. The Church is either going to have to take this thing to Court, or they'll totally peter out and if they don't do that I know we're going to be hearing from them. They've got to make a decision on what they're going to do. Mr. Diemert said I will summarize it for you. ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL There were none.
