Regular Council Meeting
12-16-02
Page 22
There were no comments.
ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
Several people extended wishes for happy holidays.
Council President Buckholtz said I just wanted to mention I talked to Lt. Dearden before; it
comes up every couple of years-the light at Raleigh-a bunch of residents are talking about
why it can't be shut off at night or turned to a blinking light at night. We've already spoken
about it just for the record---
Lt. Dearden questioned what's a bunch.
A brief informal discussion was held.
Lt. Dearden will look into it.
Mrs. Mills said a lady living across the street from the car wash is complaining about the noise.
When the blowers are going, it is just something else. I don't know if they can be baffled down
or---
A brief informal discussion was held.
Mrs. Mills said maybe when Bernie comes back; Debbie, will you have him check into that for
me?
Mayor Rinker said let's get as much as you can from her; the hours; describe it. There are ways
you can check decibel levels; you can rate these things. If it is a nuisance issue, we can impose
upon them---
Mrs. Mills said I told her Mr. Samac was on vacation and wouldn't be back for 10 days.
Dr. Parker said there is probably a maximum number of decibels so far away from the sidewalk
that they'd have to meet--
Council President Buckholtz said as long as we're bringing it up, and I made this statement to a
number of people and I know it's in the record very clearly; we have total control through the
Police Department of deciding that traffic situation over there and I know we're talking about 3
different things. We can make them hire an attendant to control traffic. It's up to our Police
Department to decide if they're impeding traffic with the addition of that.

'_ 1
Mayor Rinker addressed Lt. Dearden and asked, have we had any indications that traffic is
already an issue?
