Regular Council Meeting <br />1-27-03 <br />Page 6 „ .l <br />. <br />. STANDiNG CONIIVIITTEE REkORTS:'' : <br />` Activities Committee - Mayor Rinker said Donna, I'll defer to you. Mrs. Roman reported that <br />members of the Activities Committee volunteered and participated in the following December <br />events: the Menorah Lighting, the Holiday Tree Lighting and the Wetlands Winter Solstice. <br />The committee will be meeting on Tuesday, February 7`h at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room <br />Conference Room. Topic of discussion will include the upcoming Appreciation Dinner, <br />`SOs Night and the Music on the Crreen concerts (and probably the 4th of July.) <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said thank you Mr. President. The Board met on <br />January 9P. We had a couple of agenda items. A new house on Bramblewood was approved <br />along with an addition and there was a sign approved for a proposed storage facility on Beta <br />Drive. Two of the signs were approved; the other two were approved contingent upon variances <br />being granted and approved-so they aze still. up in the air until sometime in the near future. <br />Board of Appeals - Mr. Samac said we had a meeting on January 215t. There were a couple of <br />. items; one being the signs that I just discussed. One involves height of letters for the rear portion <br />of the building facing I-271; one was for the maximum area permitted for all signs total-the <br />pole sign is being appealed by Mr. Riter and another section that dealt with the outside storage <br />that we're waiting for an opinion from the Law Deparirnent. There was a sign application that <br />F required an application for a variance for Village Park Apartments; that was tabled until they <br />? provide more detailed drawings. <br />' Cemeterv - Mrs. Mills said no work is being done in the Cemetery because of inclement weather. <br />Arbor Day will be April l lth in the Community Room. Plantings and a bench will be placed in <br />the Cemetery in memoriam of Joan Pumphrey, a member of the Garden Club who passed away. <br />We are going to make a little garden there with a bench and some lilac bushes in there because <br />that was her favorite bush. <br />Council President Buckholtz said very nice. Thank you Mrs. Mills. <br />Citizen's Advisorv Board - Mr. Riter said Citizen's Advisory will not be meeting before our next <br />Council meeting so I have no report. <br />Commission on A ing - Mrs. IVlills said the Commission on Aging will host its annual thank-you <br />luncheon for the Village employees on Monday, February l lth in the Community Room. Lunch <br />will be served from 11:30 to 1:30. Invitations have gone out to all departments, Council, <br />personnel and auxiliary staff. Responses are requested by Wednesday, February 5. Plans have <br />been finalized for a June 11`h trip to Stan Hywet Hall in Akron and the Kent State University <br />Museum including the renown fashion museum. Lunch will be at Schwebel's Garden Room on <br />the Kent State campus. The cost is $45 per person. We are also planning the anniversary party <br />scheduled for Saturday, November 17. The card group's attendance has slowed down some due <br />to the holidays and harsh weather. However, we have continued to meet. We will not meet next <br />-! week and Tuesday February 4th due to the work in the Community Room. I have a request from <br />F' a resident to try for a discounted group rate for those persons wishing emergency call buttons.
