Regular Council Meeting <br />2-17-03 <br />Page 16 of 20 <br />Dr. Parker, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to authorize an expenditure in an amount not to <br />exceed $10,000 for demolition of two (2) houses on Wilson Mills Road (6180 & 6186). <br />Council President Buckholtz asked, discussion? <br />Mr. Marquardt asked, what all does this include now? Or what is it allowing for? <br />Mr. Samac said this is allowing for the removal of both homes, the driveways surfaces. I think there <br />is a to,tal of 3 garages on the two properties--and grading it out to where we would be able to plant <br />some grass. <br />Mr. Marquardt asked, the quote was less than $10,000, wasn't it? <br />Mr. Samac said less than $10,000 forboth; yes. <br />Mr. Marquardt asked, so what's the extra amount? Do we have allowances in there, or what's--- <br />Mr. Samac said no; you never know when you'll run into something that may cost you another <br />couple hundred bucks-something unforeseen-so, right now the total of the 2 bids that we have <br />come out to $9,600, so we just said not to exceed the $10,000 so if something comes up we have <br />$400 to play with. (Mr. Brett questioned, weren't they $4,900 apiece?) Mr. Samac said $9,800 so <br />we have $200. <br />Council President Buckholtz said and it was going to cost a great deal inore to try to improve <br />them-or the one-or keep the one-that wasn't even a possibility? <br />Mr. Samac said they were beyond help. <br />Dr. Parker said also our Fire Department, and I believe our police will be involved, too, right <br />Lieutenant? No just our Fire Depariment will be using the facility to do some exercises-no <br />burning but just some exercise training-so they will serve a purpose for that, too. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Expenditure Authorized <br />Council President Buckholtz said the next item I just had added as a note: <br />Note: Appeal of 4 variances granted by BOA - Case Number 2002-15 - Signs for <br />Proposed U-Store-it deferred to March Caucus <br />Council President Buckholtz said I just wanted to mention that we will be having discussion on that <br />and I believe we will be having a presentation from the applicants but we will discuss-lirect that <br />discussion to the March Caucus. <br /> <br />I <br />J <br />
