Special Council Meeting
2-24-03
Page 14
Mrs. Cinco asked, this will be a rental for the Village until such time as it's in good enough shape?
Council President Buckholtz asked who lives there-does Zako live there?
Mrs. Mills said yeah, he lives there.
Mayor Rinker and Mr. Brett said he lives there. Mayor Rinker said and he has a woman who lives
upstairs.
Mr. Brett said and his grown children live there.
Mrs. Cinco said and they would continue until such time as we develop the property, or-had plans
for....
Mrs. Mills said no, Mr. Zako is moving out. He does not want to stay there as a renter.
Mayor Rinker said and I'm not sure that the kids would remain.
Mr. Marrie asked, is he just doing this for, (I hate to use the word) for sentimental reasons?
? Mrs. Mills said for the house, yes. But it's his time in life, as he puts it, to move on. Like everybody
i else, he wants a smaller property that he doesn't have to take care of. But thaYs his business. Our
business is buying this propezty and....
Mrs. Cinco said right.
Mr. Marrie said I don't care where he's going. That's his business not mine. But I have a question.
If we go along with and approve the Falkner property, is that enough to go with the Issue One if we
do just that one and not the Zako property?
Mrs. Mills said no, we need a113.
Mr. Brett said if you don't go forward, I mean you can modify this particular ordinance any way you
want but if the understanding is that it's a"no go" on the purchase agreement, there's no point in our
applying for funds for it. What you run into is, and I'll be frank with you, is Zako is going to be a
longshot. To me, throw something up against the wall and see if it sticks, here's an opportunity to
go forward and perhaps shave off $100,000 off the....
Mr. Marrie said the thoughts are by many in the Village to purchase that or acquire that property
have been going on for years to put it into a park or part of this Villaga-controlled land so we're not
going with anything that hasn't been kicked around, I don't know, for years. Am I correct?
Council President Buckholtz said I know Rec Board was talking about that structure way back.
Mayor Rinker and Mrs. Cinco said yes.
