Regular Council Meeting
3-17-03
Page 10
Council President Buckholtz said that's what I am looking for the language here. If I were going
to vote on something and I was writing it myself, I would say something to the effect of that
allowing them the option to do the second sign but they would have to come, we would have to
have some strict evaluation on the placement of the sign in terms of Mr. Riter talking about the
safety of his ability and so forth. So I don't know whether we can leave the motion as it stands
and just vote on it as is or whether to----- are you saying in either event they will be coming back
to show us the final sign, is that [right]?
Mr. Samac said if Council wishes, they will be here. It is our property; we can put any
stipulation on it we want. It's just that simple. And I was going to suggest in lieu of what you
were just saying, if you like, I could ask them, I'm sure they would be willing to do it is to do a
little mock up of exactly where they would like to place it and the sign they would like to
place-even if they would want to paint it by hand so everybody could have the opportunity to
drive by there and take a look and see what it looks like as far as location, height, setbacks, that
sort of thing. Then let them draw up their easement.
Council President Buckholtz asked, does it make sense to hold off on voting on this then? If you
are saying that----- Mayor Rinker said you could say preliminary so they know they have approval to do it in
principle subject to final approval based on Council's discretion of what it wants to put on there;
a player to be named later.
Council President Buckholtz said I would be more comfortable with that. Several people agreed.
Council President Buckholtz said so leYs modify the language to say that we are voting on the
preliminary authorization of Village property for a sign for A1terCare pending location and
design and further approval. So, it sort of takes some of the meat out of it but---
Ms. Calta said the motion was already made so we would have to amend the motion.
Council President Buckholtz requested a motion to amend the motion.
Dr. Parker, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to amend the motion.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: Mr. Riter Motion Carried to amend the motion
Council President Buckholtz asked, any further discussion?
Mr. Samac said if you would be kind enough to place in that motion the requirement for an
easement to be drawn up at their expense and submitted for the approval of the location.
Mr. Riter said I think it is a little ill conceived to be throwing adjustments to motions from 4 or 5
different directions, in the direction of the Council President and come up with some mish-mash
