Regular Council Meeting
3-17-03
Page 8
Note: Deleted from the agenda per Mr. Diemert's recoanmendation-under Dept. Head
reports. (Legal)
• A motion to authorize use of Village property for a ground sign for A1terCare at
290 North Commons Blvd.
Mr. Riter said I think this needs a little more distinction as far as what we are voting on-are we
voting on Option A, Option B?
Council President Buckholtz said well it sounds like we're voting, the way this is written-that we
are authorizing the use of Village property---
Mr. Marquardt, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to authorize use of Village property for a
ground sign for A1terCare at 290 North Commons Blvd.
Council President Buckholtz asked, discussion?
Mr. Riter said I think the majority of Council, at least this portion of Council, felt that Option 2 or B,
putting 2 signs on the current location was far more attractive than putting two signs on two separate
occasions so I would urge Council to vote against this.
Mr. Marquardt said I considered what was presented last week and went by the facility. It's not that it would be an eyesore for the
Village-two signs. Again, I don't know-what they're comfortable with and what their desires are,
I think we should consider.
Mrs. Mills said they are two separate facilities so I really think that they need two separate signs-
one on both sides. Plus, I would hope that they would put the directional signs up that they said they
would, at that north end so people would know that's just for fire and safety to go back through
there.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any other comments.
Mayor Rinker said for what it's worth, I talked with Lloyd Chapman today and I think he was trying
to be deferential to the gentleman who was there for AlterCare; he is not really proposing a separate
sign. He tended to agree that if you put two signs on one, it functions well enough and it is also a
