Regular Council Meeting
4-21-03
Page 2
,
COMMENTS FROIVI COUNCIL: PRESIDENT BVCKHOLTZ
Council President Buckholtz had no comments.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS
Building - Mr. Samac said we have a lot of people in the audience and some may be concerned
about what may or may not be happening along our south border butting up to the rear properties
on Ridgebury. If you think this is an appropriate time, I'd like to address to Council and any
interested parties what I'm aware of (which isn't a whole lot but I'd be glad to share it with
everyone) concerning what's apparently going at the rear of the properties on Ridgebury where
they abut up to residents on Foxboro and a couple of the residents on Aintree Park Drive.
Council President Buckholtz said as long as you can do it briefly.
Mr. Samac said I can because I don't have solid answers. A few weeks back we were notified
there were a lot of surveyor's flags and markers at the rear of the residents on Foxboro and a
couple on Aintree Park Drive where they abut up to the rear properties of the homes on
Ridgebury in Mayfield Heights. Just for general information, those properties that are on
Foxboro off Aintree Park Drive; part of their properties themselves are in the City of Mayfield
Heights. (Approximately 140' of their rear properties are actually in the City of Mayfield
Heights and I believe they pay taxes on it, on that basis.) It appears that we can't get any solid
information at this time. There is a drive going on to purchase approximately 350' or so of the
rear properties of the homes on Ridgebury Blvd. and our guess is in anticipation of the area being
developed with a Planned Residential Unit Development of sorts. It sort of makes the best sense.
I've talked to several of our residents. I've talked to a couple of people on Ridgebury Blvd.; we
can't pinpoint any developer, nor has there been any official application made to Mayfield
Heights for any rezoning, lot splits, rezoning to their Planned Residential Zone Classification at
this time. Just for informational purposes, typically that's not unusual. Developers will remain
anonymous until such time as they are prepared to present a plan and have all the acquisitions
that they need-solidly locked up-so they don't run into problems down the road from their
point of view. To the best of my knowledge, none of our residents were approached to consider
selling any of their rear property they own in the City of Mayfield Heights. To the best of my
knowledge not all of the properties along Ridgebury have come into some sort of an agreement
with whomever this individual or this group is, that may be planning this type of development. I
had spoken with the City of Mayfield Heights and again, they have absolutely no submittals and
therefore have no comment. I don't know if anyone in the audience has anything they can add or
may want to add or any other information they'd like to share with us but at this point, that's the
information I have-which isn't much but iYs all we have for right now.
Council President Buckholtz said I can add some more non-information to your report. .I did
some checking around at the County Engineers and the County Auditor--actually the first place
this project would go is to the County Engineer-the results of the surveying would go to the
County Engineer and then immediately to the Auditor and that they would need to do a lot split
