Regular Council Meeting
5-19-03
Page 26
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to go into executive session to discuss
real estate and personnel.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Council President Buckholtz asked if we need all the Department Heads. Mr. Brett said yes; (at
least this side of the room (Service Director/Building Commissioner.)
Council went into Executive Session at 9:29 p.m.
Council reconvened at 10:00 p.m.
ANY OTHER MATTER BEFORE COUNCIL
Summer Schedule
Mr. Riter said he will be on vacation the first week of July; Mr. Marrie said he will be on
vacation the last two weeks of June; Mrs. Roman said she will be on vacation during the July Sth
celebration.
Council President Buckholtz said we usually go to one meeting in July and one meeting in
August.
After a brief discussion, the following meeting dates were set:
¦ Caucus/Regular Council Meeting - July 14
¦ Caucus/Regular Coumcil Meeting - August 11
Ms. Calta questioned the June meetings and Mrs. Roman advised: June 2- Special Council
Meeting/Council Caucus; Regular Meeting June 16.
Mayor Rinker cited Mr. Diemert's timetable re the public hearing, etc. He thinks the point is to
try to let people know that you get it into the chute earlier so that it's easier to take the time that
you need to meet the 30-day requirements, the Public Hearing (where you are pro and con); a lot
of communities don't take a 3ra read and vote the night of the Public Hearing; they like to let it
sink in and wait a couple more weeks. The more we get into this earlier on, the easier it is to
allow the process to be more deliberative so that you still meet that deadline to get it to the Board
of Elections.
Ms. Calta said you need 30 days between the 2nd and the 3`d reading so you could have the Public
Hearing in July or August.
A brief discussion and several side discussions were held about the meeting schedule.
