Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, August 21, 2017
Page 3

There was none.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All Motion Carried
NAYS: None Minutes of July 24, 2017
Approved as Written
COMMENTS FROM MAYOR BODNAR
Mayor Bodnar stated, I wanted to note and commend the Recreation Department. There was a
wonderful article in the Sun last week. It was called, Everyone in the Pool and it deinonstrated
what _we can do insofar as Adaptive Recreation and for our Senior Citizens. I really hope it
draws more seniors to use our pool *and our facilities.
Second thing tonight, we have a very special guest here. We have Mr. Tony Ramos from
NOPEC. Mr. Ramos is NOPEC's Community Outreach IVlanager. NOPEC recognizes and
awards Council Clerks who have done some extraordinary work for their communities. Certainly
Mary Beth Betsa has done that for us. I a:m particulaxly focusing on the work that Mary Beth's
done in gathering information and bringing it back to Council, giving it to us in a simple
comprehensible manner when it comes to some very complex issues with utilities and insurance
and things like that. Because of that, I nominated Mary Beth Betsa to receive a NOPEC
recognition. So, Mr. Rarrios, I turn the floor over to you now. Thank you.
Mr. Fred Ramos
Community Outreach Coordinator
NOPEC
Good evening. Thank you Mayor and memtiers of Council. The Mayor kind of stole my intro.
She kind of covered most of what I was going to cover. In 2016, NOPEC had an Executive
Assistant Program which we recognized the efforts of the Executive Assistants in the
communities we have served. As a former Clerk of Council, I wanted to, in 2017, recognize the
efforts of Council Clerks in the communities we serve. So, Mary Beth, I am here to present you
with a Certificate of Recognition and then I have a cooler bag filled with goodies for you.
The Mayor provided a quote for your certificate that says, "Mary Beth's unique combination of
skills, dedication, positive attitude, courtesy and perseverance, make her an accomplished
Council Clerk. We are very grateful for all does for us." I would like to give this to you and I
would like to get a picture of you.and the Mayor. Congratulations.
Mayor Bodnar stated, thanks again Mr. Ramos for coming out: We are very glad you could join
us this evening.
