This month, for those of you who might not be aware, is
National Preparedness Month. It is designated by the Federal government and it is a month that
all citizens in the United States are encouraged to consider their preparedness and take measures
to ensure that when emergencies happen, they are prepared. Our office is intimately involved in
preparing the County for emergencies and disasters that can happen here. We implement several
different initiatives to try and further that mission. One of them is our ReadyCertify program
which is a community certification program for any community or large organization in
Cuyahoga County. It is basically a series of best practices and standards that are considered to
go above and beyond with communities to prepare themselves for an emergency.
Our office began work with Chief Carcioppolo a short while ago. He has recently completed the
program. This program basically establishes that Mayfield Village is in a position. beyond many
other communities in Cuyahoga County to be ready for disasters and emergencies.
