Text files, including tliose created by word pYOCessors and COLD applications, can easily <br />be imported into LaseYFiche. <br />Fzi1l-Text Indexing <br />If scanned unages contain clearly laser printed or typewYitten text, they can be indexed by eveiy <br />woid in their content. LaserFiche's Omni page optical character recognirion (OCR) module will <br />create searchable ASCII text fiom the scanned images. Each woYd in the text is placed in a master <br />word list with full-text indexing. It becomes less necessaiy to manually code documents that have <br />clearly printed text, saving hours of data entry time. <br />Traditional Ilzdex .Fields <br />In addition to full text indexing, LaserFiche allows up to 250 index fields templates, each of which <br />can have up Eo 1024 index fields. It supports ASCII (up to 254 characters), true date, integer and <br />long integer data types. It supports both full-text and tiaditional field searches, <br />which can be used either in combination or separately. Any of the standaYd "wildcard" chaYacters <br />(*, ?, and []) can be used. The Boolean operatoYS AND, OR, and NOT are also supported, as is a <br />text proxitnity search and "fuzzy" search. Search results can be either printed or saved in a foldeY. <br />Finally, the folder browser can. also be used to Yetsieve documents. <br />Piznting arad.Faxing <br />LaseiFiche works with most Windows compatible printers. RIS recominends that the VILLAGE <br />use a laser printer (not dot mati-ix, bubble-jet or inkjet) with at least 4 MB of RAM foi image <br />piinting.
