Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, October 15, 2018
Page 2
Comments from 1Vlayor Bodnar
. Administration of Oath of Office - Lorry Nadeau - Appointment to Records Commission
As most of you know, Marge Comella has recently resigned fi•om our Records Commission. She
served on that Commission for tnany many years. I would like to thanlc Marge for all of her
service to Mayfield Village; particularly to Records Commission.
Tonight I have the honor of swearing in Lorry Nadeau who will take Marge's spot on Records
Commission.
Mayor Bodnar administered the oath of office to Lorry Nadeau as member of the Records
Commission.
Mayor Bodnar stated, I will reserve any further coirunents to the topics as they come up.
Comments from Council President Sanonaro
I would like to wish Dr. Parker a Happy Birthday. It was on the 12t". And Mary Beth's got a
birthday coming up on the 29"'. I will reserve the rest of my comments for the rest of the
meeting.
OPEN -PORTION>" ; _
- For Public Comment (5-minute lunit imposed by Chair)
Derrick McDowell
6543 Highland Road
I would just like to talk quickly about the Development Agreement on tonight's agenda.
Specifically, just a couple of items I have some questions on.
Section 5, Development Terms, Conditions and Deed Restrictions, subsection (d), Development
shall be limited to residents over the age of 55. I just wanted to make sure that Council
and the Mayor consider some of the cons of that. When you go to sell your property, you are
limiting your market that you are going to sell it to. I tluiilc long-teim, real estate has trends and
it goes up and doval. It could be detrimental if in a doNvii yeai• you are only mai•keting to half the
population. Also, if it's 55 and over and some unforeseeii circumstances they pass away, you
would not be able to leave your house to your family. I know a lot of residents have done that in
the Village. This Nvould resti•ict them and limit them so they would not be able to do tllat.
Initially, if the goal and intent is to have a quiet senior neighborhood, the Deed restriction of 55
and over would prevent families from moving in. Children under the age of 19 could not move
