Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, November 19, 2018 <br />Page 4 <br />Chief Eugene Carcioppolo (Fire) - I just wanted to let everyone know that the Tech Team <br />merger that took place last year is proving to work out well with the Heights-Hillcrest Technical <br />Rescue Team. They are acquiring a new vehicle to replace what used to be our old fire engine <br />chassis that was donated and then converted to the Tech Team truck. They will be replacing that <br />vehicle with an F-550 at the cost of approximately $140,000. I just wanted to keep everyone <br />apprised that the Tech Team is still functioning regionally. It is a benefit to us. <br />Shane McAvinew (Parks and Recreation) <br />. Commission on Aging - The next meeting will be held on Thursday, January lOth at the <br />Community Room at 11:00 p.m. <br />. Senior Services - We are taking reservations for the Holiday Party on December 14tn <br />Make sure you take a look at the nice pictures from Flo's watercolor class outside. Some <br />of them are for sale. You might find something you like. We are also taking reservations <br />for special programs held, the Magical Memories of Christmas. If you are interested, it <br />has actually becoine very popular. For the last two weeks, we have added 50 people. As <br />of today, 75 people have signed up. The next trip is in December to Dicken's Victorian <br />Village in Cambridge, Ohio. A Lunch and Movie is on the 19"l' at Governor's Village and <br />the CPA Lunch `N Movie is on December Sth. We have received over 240 applicants to <br />opt in to the snow removal program. Remind your neighbors to return their applications <br />as soon as possible. The deadline has passed. Also, they must return their opt-out <br />applications no later than December 31 St <br />Chief Edelman (Police) - Last Tuesday we had our first Safety Meeting for the residents. We <br />talked about violent crime and how it . affects people physically, emotionally, mentally, <br />individually and as a group. We had a preriy good attendance. A number of people here in the <br />room today were in attendance. It is difficult for me to rate the program since I was the one that <br />hosted it. We asked around and got a pretty good idea of how it was received. Overall it went <br />very well. It is the first program of its kind and hopefully we will have more in the future. <br />Council President Saponaro stated, from my understanding it was well received and certainly <br />well run. We appreciate it. <br />Doug Metzung (Service) - I just wanted to report that we continue our leaf pick-up. The season <br />is rumling probably about two weeks behind due to the leaves. We will be out until mid- <br />December getting them all until the snow drives us away. <br />Coffimittee Renorts: <br />Citizens Advisorv (Patsv Mills): The Committee was introduced to Mr. John Marquart, <br />our Economic Development Manager. Our guest speaker was Diane Bickett, Executive <br />Director of Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. She talked a lot about recycling, <br />what we can and don't do and what we should do as far as recycling. She handed out <br />some brochures. There was a tour of the Historical House for people that hadn't toured <br />the house.
