Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, December 17, 2018
Page 3
Council President Saponaro asked, have we completed the digitization?
Mrs. Betsa replied, yes. You should be able to access the records shortly.
Ron Wynne (Finance) - I will save my comments for Finance as they come up on the agenda.
Chaef Eugene Carcioppolo (Fire) - Happy Holidays.
Anthony J. Coyne (Law) - I have one item to report, on the •Georgian Medical Arts Il, LLC v.
The Village of Mayfield which was a declaratory judgment action filed related to the zoning of
the property. It's about ?a 2.08 acre parcel in front of the Medical Arts building on SOM Center
Road. Suffice it to say, there are motions pending, but the lawyer for Dr. Moyal indicated a
desire to sta.y with the residential use on that property and not to pursue another non-residential
use. At the same time, he is looking at a use that might be still requiring a zoning change. They
decided to dismiss the case without prejudice which means they could bring it back again, but in
the meantime they are going to pursue an administrative review that could require legislation. If
it's done in the normal course, there won't be a need for me to discuss it with you further. If
they would choose to refile, we would probably have to have a discussion in Executive Session
about having a settlement or a development agreement. But as it stands, the case is dismissed for
the time being which is always good. We will see how it proceeds.
- Council President Saponaro stated, thank you very much.
Shane McAvinew (Parks'and Recreation)
. Commission on Aging - We did not meet in December. The next meeting will be held
on Thursday, January l Oth at the Community Room at 11:00 p.m.
. Parks and Recreation - We did not meet in December, but we had a lot of great
activities that occurred from our Christmas tree lighting and Menorah lighting and last
Saturday, with the help of the Police Department and the Fire Department, Santa visited
many many families throughout the Village. We handed out candy canes. That was a
great activity followed by the party at Civic Ha11.
. Senior Services - We had 70 seniors show up for last week's holiday party. At this
. point, the snowplow program has 250 applicants opting in and 100 opting out. Opt out
applications are due by December 31 St. We also have our trip preview scheduled in
January. 100 people signed up. We have about 4 spots left for tliat. Our popular Foot
Clinic will be held on January 11'' and 25?' at the Civic Center. CPA will have lunch and
a movie on the 19d. Call CPA for reservations.
Chief Edelman (Police) - The assessment for the Police Chiefls position was held on Saturday,
December 8th. The results are in. The Civil Service Commission has compiled and certified the
eligibility list. We hope to have the selection process completed within a short period of time,
hopefully in the next week or two. Happy Holidays to everybody.
I)oug 19iletzung (Service) - Leaf season continues. The weather last week or so has really
helped bring out the landscapers and homeoNvners to bring their leaves out to the curb. We hope
