Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, January 29, 2018
Page 5 are destroying an area that we don't need to destroy because we do have connectivity other
places. I would like to just plead with you guys to really consider not putting that trail in there.
Larrv Harrison
6613 SOM Court
I happen to have the pleasing view from across the street from my neighbors which I have a great
love for the trees that top over their house and with this project going on I think that's going to
be a great loss to my side of the community. I would like to also add some of the comments in
the Voice of the Village this month which says Leave Lands as Greenspace. You have a 78
percentile in favor of that. I would ask that you please consider what's going on here, today.
Gina Tweed
One other point. I used to actually reside next to Larry. Because of the greenspace on the other
"side, I actually purchased the home across the street because of that reason. So to hear that we
are now going to take out yet a third set of trees to allow for the path is very disappointing.
Thank you.
Rosemarie Fabrizio ,
6588 SOM Court
The Beecher's Brook trail connector has quite a history. In 2004, it was part of the Vision Plan
and by 2009 it was incorporated into a Master Plan. When projects have a long period between
initiation and implementation, they often take on a life of their own. We think that this is the
case here. If we want to be honest about it, the proposal you are being asked to approve was
never put forth because anyone ever thought it was a good idea to put a large concrete path
adjacent to residential property and to cut down healthy mature trees in a designated greenspace.
This proposal emerged because the project had- been on the books forever and if you wanted to
get it done, because of erosion there was absolutely no other place to put it. This is never a good
idea to do anything and certainly not with this project. As a neighborhood, we began our efforts
by gathering information and asking Council representatives to meet with us. Each of you
graciously accepted and listened to our concerns. I would like all of our neighbors in Mayfield
Village to know that, that we asked all seven Council people and all of them responded by
coming over and viewing the property, so we are most appreciative. We took some of you, we
trekked out through the mud and the snow and then when it became unbelievably cold we were
forced for some of you to look out our back windows. The project renderings are aesthetically
pleasing but we knew that the drawings were deceiving and we needed you to see what we saw
and the result that this proposal would have on our neighborhood. All of you did.
At the January 8th meeting, by invitation of Council President Mr. Saponaro, we initiated the
public discussion. And we are here tonight to further state our case. This has been a
collaborative effort and we do have a representative group with us. Others who could not attend
sent statements of support which we will give to you. In other words, we are all in this together.
We shared this proposal is not a part of the Master Plan and the major purpose of the trial
