Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, January 29, 2018
Page 6
connector, trail connectivity has been achieved with greater access than was ever envisioned in
either 2004 or 2009 thus eliminating the necessity of this proposed trial connector. We voiced
real concerns about safety, possible destruction of mature trees. As a matter of fact I took a
couple pictures of two of the trees that are slated as an on-site decision, meaning, these are
healthy mature trees that may be removed depending upon what they find when they start to
build the trail which again, we don't think is a good idea. Not only the removal, but the fact that
it's an on-site decision. Changing the topography of an area greatly impedes the homeowner's
ability to prevent erosion and no one in Mayfield Village needs more water issues on their
property.
Finally, there's a real issue of cost. The stream reconstruction is being funded through grants.
The trail is a cost to the Village. The latest number we have received is $356,672.58 which we
think is a substantial amount of money, community resources, taxpayer dollars that hopefully
could be allotted to projects benefitting all residents of Mayfield Village. If you do a cost benefit
analysis, you will see there is very little value here. Or to put it quite simply, an expenditure of
over $356,000 gets you about zero bang for your buck. So this current proposal comes from a
project that is no longer needed. Its purpose has been achieved. It is certainly not wanted. It is
costly to all residents of Mayfield Village. So, we come here tonight as your neighbors, your
constituents and your friends and respectfully but emphatically ask you to vote no on this trail
connector proposal, Ordinance No. 2018-06. Thank you.
Council President Saponaro asked, do we have anyone else that wants to speak during Open
Portion?
There were no further comments.
Council President Saponaro stated, thank you for everyone who got up and spoke. We truly
appreciate it.
CONSIDERATION 'OF MINUTES :
Rm,ular CouncillVleeting - December 18, 2017
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Williams, made a motion to approve the minutes as written.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All Motion Carried
NAYS: None Minutes of December 18, 2017 Meeting
Approved as Written
Organizational Council Meeting - Januarv 8, 2018
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Williams, made a motion to approve the minutes as written.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All Motion Carried
NAYS: None Minutes of January 8, 2018 Meeting
ABSTAIN: Parker Approved as Written
