Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, February 19, 2018
Page 3
The Mayor told me that she will let me know this week if the light is to be removed or not. I am
really hopeful that the city will remove the light, but barring that, I hope you understand that my
wife and I have no choice but to pursue a legal resolution. I simply wanted to come here and
make Council aware of what has occurred and what could occur. Thank you.
Mayor Bodnar stated, thank you Mr. DiFranco for coming this evening. I would like to address
just a couple of points that you made tonight. First of all, I did indicate to you that I would get
back to you this week by Wednesday I believe with a response to your request and I will do that.
I also indicated to you that we would have some photographs and video taken of the light at night
which we have done and will review those before we get back to you. Without going into every
detail, I take issue with some of the facts that you have recited tonight and I think because you
have put forth your version of the facts that we should apprise Council and every member of
Council as to some of the facts we believe are the right and correct facts.
As to the light on my street, what I told you is that my light is different than your light because
unlike your light which is in the public right of way at the edge of your property and facing the
houses on the other side of the street, the light on my street is across from my house and is aimed
directly at my window and I didn't say that I solved the problem with heavy curtains; I said we
got room darkening shades and I suggested the same to you. You threatened litigation and I said
if that's the way you want to go, you can go that way, I am not going to stop you.
The one other point I wanted to address is that I had indicated to you last Friday after you called
the second time that we did look into police reports in the area and there were several police
reports going back. We only looked back as fax as 2016, I believe, and there were several reports.
Also, and I will include this in Council packets this coming weekend, I did get a letter over the
weekend from the residents on Zorn Lane thanking us for putting in a light there and for dealing
with the safety issues and making it a safer place. That 'will be included in Council packets also.
Thank you.
Mr. DiFranco asked, what about the other - They are not unsafe now?
Mayor Bodnar stated, I will address Council and I will get back to you. I don't intend on going
through all of this tonight. Thanlc you.
Council President Saponaro stated, thank you, Mr. DiFranco. We appreciate your comments. Is
there anyone else that would like to address Council at this time?
There were no further comments.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
John 1Vlarrelli (Building)
. Architectural Review Board - We met on February 8th. We had a second meeting for a new
house on SOM Center. They are coming back for a third meeting,
