Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, February 19, 2018
Page 4
. Planning and Zoning - We met last week and reviewed the Beecher's Brook stream bank
stabilization project which we will be voting on on March Stn
Council President Saponaro asked, can we do a clarification on that? They are only voting on
the riparian setback?
Mr. Marrelli replied, yes. The project requires them to work in riparian setback and that requires
them to get permission from the Planning Commission.
Mr. Williams asked for clarification on the process from one committee to another committee.
Mr. Marrelli replied, our rules require that the Plamling Commission has to authorize anyone that
works in a riparian setback. The Sewer District had to come in and get permission from the
Planning Commission to work in the riparian setback for the stream bank restoration. Is that
clear or no?
Mr. Williams replied, it's clearer. Thank you.
Mr. Marrelli stated, they are not allowed to work in the setback without permission. We had to
give them permission to work on our property.
Mr. Williams stated, thank you.
Council President Saponaro stated, and I clarified that because we have on our agenda easements
that are not the same as the riparian setback. I did not want there to be confusion between the
two which we will have discussion on. That was part of the reason why I interjected and
clarified that it was for the riparian setback rights which is what the Planning Commission is
going to be voting on on March Stn
Mary Betsa (Council) - On Friday, February 16th, the State Auditor held House Bill 9 Training
on Open Records and Public Meetings in Reserve Hall. There were 58 people in attendance.
Presently, 35 are registered for the Ethics Session scheduled for April 23`a in Reserve Hall. Let
me know if you wish to attend.
Tom Cappello (Engineer) - We have three projects out to bid, the 2018 Road Program which is
the resurfacing of the Worton Park and Joyce/Hemingway neighborhoods. The watermain was
done last year. Also, the Thornapple/Robley sanitary watermain improvement and the Parkview
Pool painting project.
Chief Carcioppolo (Fire) - We are about seven calls ahead of where we were last year as of
today. By the end of the year, if we keep on pace, we should be close to 100 calls above where
we were last year. We have the Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal's test coming up on March
2nd
