Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, February 19, 2018
Page 5
Shane McAvinew
. Senior Services - On March 21St, we have a trip to the Federal Reserve Bank and Momma
Santos Restaurant. It was sold out so we will be adding another trip. There were over 20
people on the waiting list. We had 70 attend our Lunch N Learn on Senior Safety Tips last
month. I thank the two gentlemen to my left for their involvement in that - for Mayfield
Village Police and Fire Department and Donna for putting on a good presentation on this
subject matter. We had 248 applicants opt in for Senior Snow Removal and 135 who opted
out.
. Commission on Aging - The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 22nd at 11:00
a.m. in the Community Room. With regard to the Community Partnership on Aging, we
have Wendy Sattin here in the back row. She will field any questions Council may have on
that agenda item.
. Parks and Recreation - Some of you may have received the brochure electronically. It
should be to all Mayfield Village residents within the next two weeks. I believe every
Council member and a large portion of the residents received it today electronically.
Shortly after that, you will also receive the entertainment brochure for this year which is
focusing all of the entertainment activities in Mayfield Village from Mother's Day Pancake
Breakfast, Cruise Night and activities. We did get sponsorships of $4,500 to help cover the
costs of that. We also had a nice save in the fact that we did it all in-house and separated it,
so we got a lot more bang for our buck and got a lot more support from businesses like
Deacon's and Women's Club and Historical Society. Does anyone have any questions?
There were none.
Chief Edelman (Police) - The Civil Service Commission met last Thursday to certify the
promotional list for Police Sergeant. They certified the top three names on the eligibiliTy list. I
will be meeting with the Mayor in the near future to discuss those top three names and hopefully
next month I will have someone for you to swear in and promote to Police Sergeant.
Doug Metzung (Service) - Salt has become an issue throughout the communities in Northeast
Ohio, getting deliveries. While we do have a very large dome that has protected us this far
along, we are using salt that we have not seen since the day we filled it up the first time. We
should be okay with the good weather coming. We are expecting a delivery late this week. But
should there be a snowstorm tomorrow, it will be a little sketchy.
Committee Reports:
Citizen's Advisory - Mrs. Mills -Our next meeting will be February 26th at 7:00 p.m. in this
room.
OLD BUSINESS
• Third Reading of Ordinance N0. 2017-41, entitled, "An Ordinance amending Sections
125.02, 125.04 and 125.05 of the Codified Ordinances relative to the Ordinance Review
Coinmittee." Introduced by Mayor Bodnar and Council as a Whole. (Law Department)
(First Reading -12-18-17; Second Reading - 1-29-18)
