Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, March 19, 2018
Page 10
Council President Saponaxo stated, if we could make an effort to get those out to the businesses.
Mr: McAvinew replied, a lot of the businesses have them. I drove them to them last week. I
went to 8 different locations. Normally I go to Progressive, but Progressive is not taking them
due to the flooding situation over there. Chief Edelman (Poliee) - Toriight we celebrated the achievements of two of my officers. To
Council, to the Mayor ancl to the residents, I just wanted to thank you for the trust you give us
every day. We will continue to work hard to earn that trust all day every day. I just wanted to
say thank you very much. .
Doug 1Vletzung (Service) - I just wanted to apologize for my note. Two weeks ago, I said the
season was coming to an end and we ended up with 1,000 tons of salt. It has not stopped since.
Tomorrow is Spring and we will cease our snowplowing activities - Just kidding. It may never
end.
Committee Reports:
Citizen's Advisory - Mrs. Mills - At our last meeting, Tom Cappello gave a very good
overview of the different projects that will be going on, road repair, SOM Court, sorry about
those trees, I am sure they will figure it out. Our next meeting will be on the 26th at 7:00 here.
Chris Skoda will be nere talking about his proposed development on Highland Road and
Christine -Znidarsic from the Chagrin River Watershed will be ta.lking about stormwater
management.
Ad Hoc Committees:
In Committee Status Reports
Mr. Schutt stated, I am on the Parks and Recreation Board Subcommittee for Arts and Music.
We met on Wednesday, February 215t. The summer season of entertainment pamphlet will be
mailed out to all of the Mayfield School District communities. Part of the reasoning for tliat is to
encourage more surrounding communities within our School District to use The Grove and also
the Gazebo as well. The cost of the pamphlet was $4,500. Most of that was covered by the
sponsors. That was great work done by our Parks and Recreation Department. Also, new this
year there are going to be three events at the pool. Included in that is a Community Appreciation
Day as well as a Community Cookout. Some of the bands that will be performing this year in
the Village is to attract more people to attend. The goal is to hopefully get between 500 and
1,000 people to attend these events.. They feel it is a good enough. crowd to where it won't
present any issues but we really don't want more people than that. The sites we have can't really
hold more than 1,000 people. I think.they are doing some good work with that. Hopefully we
will have more people attending the concert events.
Council President Saponaro stated, thank you. Any questions?

H

There were none.
