Minutes of the Special Meeting of Council
Monday, June 4, 2018
Page 10 -
this is approved by the voters, these new regulations go into effect and the U-1 which is
less regulatory basically is no longer 'in effect. The other comment I should make as to
your concerns, keep in mind the Planning Commission and Council will review the
application and the exact site plan the developer wants to do after the zoning changes. In
addition to that, your stormwater management concerns, while very well taken, will be
the responsibility of tlle Village Engineer to review and approve before any permits are
issued and in fact I would guess that the Planning Commission and Council will require
that to be done prior to approval from the Planning Commission or tfie Council. That's
once the application would be filed by the developer after the zoning is changed. It really
is incumbent upon the Village to make sure those kinds of problems don't manifest
themselves 5 years later or 10 years later and that they are addressed up front.
Council President Saponaro stated; thank you, Mr. Coyne.
Tom Marrie
6711 Walnut Drive
1. have lived here for.the last 54 years. I know there is a need at times for developments
like this and I have nothing against this development primarily. But my big concern is
this, are we opening up Pandora's Box by changing the zoning laws so other people can
come in and then request changes on that? We have kind of kept the residential areas as a
residential area, single-family home type. That's my concern. Other than.that, thank you
very much.
Patty Sensic
6533 Highland Road
I am, speakirig from having. senior parents. My motlier, can't afford to move across the
street to $400,000 housing.. The fact tliat this is claiming to be senior downsizing, I want
to know what seniors in the Village will be able to afford to live there because my Mom
couldn't live across the street and afford it. Of course this realtor's going to love it and
his friends are going to have everytliing great to say about it, but I spoke to people tonight
who knew nothing of it and were highly against our Village changing. I have grown up
here and I think it's horrible that we are not letting this Village stay the same who want a
developer to come in arid change it. It's sad that I have an aging mother who carulot live
in her same Village and inove across the street. I know that Council thinks of those who
have been here, wlio have helped the city grow to what it is today. The developer aild
realtor is going to make a profit. I don't see anything great about it and I liope you listen
to us and not to thein.
Council President Saponaro explained, it's not about listening to you or to them. All we
do is we vote to put it on the ballot which leaves everyone in the entire Village to.have
the right to vote for it or against it. We do not endorse it. We don't say we love it or we
hate it. We keep neutral because that's what our position is. All we do is we allow it to
bo on the ballot so every person in the Villabe has the right to vote on ii. If wc say no to
