Minutes of the Special,Meeting of Council
Monday, June 4; 2018
Page 9 `
from the Cleveland Clinic; fi•om GE, who are lookirig for not a house over $400,000 but a
house under $400,000. Many of them are single. Many of therri are just a couple who
would love new coristruction. We have a real problerri with inventory in the City of
Cleveland. We certainly have one in Mayfield Village. I would also like to say that I
have known Chris Skoda for more years than I would like to admit and probably he the
same and I have found him to be very transparent and honest and above board. I have
brought him buyers wlio have beeri thrilled with his work. He's solid. I encourage you
to vote for this development.
Council President Saponaro stated, just to be clear. We would not vote for the
development. All we would be voting for is to put it on the ballot.
Mrs. Ackley stated; I knoW. Council President Saponaro stated, okay: I just wanted to,be clear.
Derrick McDowell
6543 Highland Road.
I have not been in the Village as long_as otlier people have. ` When I went axound talking
to my neighbors on Highland Road about this. development, a lot of them didn't even
lcnow anything was going on; rezoning, anything, I get that the realtors and the developer
are saying that everybody loves -it. The people who live on Highland Road tllough
would most adversely.be affected by this rezoning classification. _
I liope that the Council and Mayor respectfully take the residents of Highland Road into
account for consideration of the fact that these lots are. rezoned as single family. We
would like to see them stay as single family. They can do half the size of development
well within the existing Code and that would be fine. However, I live dowiiliill of the
development. Any time it rains; my gutter floods. It's concerning tliat to Stivo' s point,
that stormwater management is probably an afterthouglit. And the long term effects on
traffic. I already have to wait 5 minutes in the mornings to get :out and go to work.
People fly dovai Highlarid Road. They are speeding down there all the time. The traffic
and congestion and stormwater management are all issues .that are going to directly
impact me:
I do also have concerns about how the ordinance is written: Section 4, I would like some
clarification on when it speaks to that all prior ordinances inconsistenf with this in whole
or in part are repealed to the exteiit necessary to avoid conflict liere within. I don't know
what t11at nieans._ You said that it has to go through inore approval lnocesses aiid that
kind of things. But as that reads, that's a huge concern to me that they can just thiow
everything out the window. Thank you.
Mr. Coyne stated, the reason for that language is that the plaivied residential development
district has a host of different rebulatory provisions «Jhich have to be complied with. The
U-1 single family has niuch ]ess regulations than this designation. So what happens is if
