Minutes of the Special Meetiiig of Council
Monday, June 4, 2018
Page 8
inarket because the home they would sell in Mayfield Village is less than what they
would purchase in this development. Responses to the Mayfield Village survey support
maintaining the design and scale of existing homes opposite of what this proposed
developinent would provide.
The plan is not unanimously endorsed by Planning and Zoning. One of the members
agrees that this should not go forward so they disagree with Plarining and Zoning.
While the desire to have new housing available in Mayfield Village is appealing, the
reality is that most residential developed land is already developed out. Being that
Mayfield Village is a desirable community, developers begin to find creative ways to
redevelop property. This is not always a bad thing, however, we need to keep in mind the
inain objective of a developer is profit-based.
Mayfield Village is in a strong financial position and does not need to settle for
something that is shiny and new but instead look to advance the character of Mayfield
Village and advance land use practices. Sincerely, residents of Mayfield Village.
We have 45-50 signatures on this already and we plan to submit that as well.
Bob Roffman
6728 Bramblewood Lane
Aintree North
I want to go through all the nets. Police, Fire, first responders do not have an issue. I
challenge the people across the street, people in this room, why they wouldn't want it. I
liave a list of 50 people that would be willing to spend $350,000-500,000 to stay in the
city and as seniors they have the tax wherewithal to pay for schools and to keep the
money locally. We are so tired: I spent 20 years in Mayfield Village and grew up in
Highland Heights: We are so tired of looking at Stonewater to downsizing. Willoughby,
Willoughby Hills. We want to stay right here. Stormwater, we pay the taxes, I think we
all have the crystal ball. It's going to get resolved. There's no reason this should not
]Zappen. Thanks.
Mary Acklpy
7109 VJilson Mills
I ani a resident since 1980. I am now a senior since I have been here since 1980. I was
much younger.at the time. I just want to tell you that when Hanover Woods was opened
in 1986, there were maiiy many skeptics about a development going in at Hanover
Woods. I was fortunate enough to market Hanover Woods. I sold every Tot in there.
They went very quickly. Tlie people in there love living in Mayfield Village and they all
contribute to the tax coffers which of course the people on Highland Road would also do.
Many of those people wliom I have spoken to about this development are now seniors
just as I am and are very e\cited about this i7ew development plus the fact that I don't
think only seniors have to live there. 1 have niany people who come fi•om out of town,
