Minutes of tlle Regular Meeting, of Counci.l
Monday, June 18; 2018
Page 12.
Larry Piecuch
6450 Highland Road
I live completely adjacent to this new project.. I would like to not object to it. In fact if you ride .
on Highland Road right now, there's brokeri trees and until recently I had to call every two
weeks to have the lawn cut over there and it was never maintained. It was just a mess. . Nobody
else on Highland Road called to have it cut but Larry haci to call. So I think this is a good thing.
We're tired of looking at tfiat field, fwo fields with broken trees. You go down there today arid
see all the broken trees. I didn't come up here to 'speak today but I feel I have to speak for this
project. I think it should be put on the ballot. Do you have any questions for me?
Council President Saponaro stated, no, but we appreciate your coming up.
IVIr. Piecuch stated, I also own right next to this project so I won't object to it and these people
that are.objecting to it are not even near this property so I don't even know why they object to it.
We.have no problem getting out of our driveway during rush hour and no problem witli flooding
either so I don't know where the flooding is. It's not by.us. We've lived tliere for 30 years.
Council Pres'ident Saponaro stated; thank you, Mr. Piecuch. We appreciate it.
Derek McDowell 6543 Highland Road
I just wanted . to talk specifically in regards to what Mr. Skoda said about building current
, residential development there. And specifically intent for this ordinance, Section (B) it says;
offer cluster and townl-iouse development as a transitional use along and in locations which
should be made residential which it qualifies that this should remain residential but are not or
may not be suitable for standard residential subdivisions: So in terms of that, to his own
statements, .he can put 12-15 houses in there now, so right tllere, it kind of just negates the intent
of this section. So I just wanted to add that in there and to say to his own submission he said he
could put a development. in there and. I think Law Director Coyne said the same thing in tlie last
public Caucus. . . ' Council President Saponaro stated, absolutely.
Mr. McDowell stated, and another section oii inteiit (D) on preserving existing :landscape
features, areas in llarmonious fashion. I think that's wliy we talked about it fit so inuch. Aiid
then Section (E) ensure developinents aie compatible with surrounding areas. So the intent for
the ordinance is very specific that fit in matters of when you talk about does it satisfy the
requiremeiits of the intent, I think it's important to not discard the fit that we the local residents
are talking about.
Council President Saponaro stated, that's why we have Planning and Zoning who looks at tllat
and then makes a recoinmendation which they did. They did do that initially. .
