Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, January 28, 2019
Page 13

conducting their business here because it does present somewhat of a liability to Mayfield
Village as a community if they are on our property and we can't be chasing people around.
Mayfield Village is somewhat of an anomaly for a small suburb because we have such a
high frequency of these vehicles in our town. Most of the areas that have these are larger
metropolitan areas. The law was really designed for a community that has a single event
like a home days or a fair. This gives the Fire Department the authority and also mandates
that we conduct an inspection prior to the event. With mobile food units functioning here
every day, it's too much for us to chase people around and try to find them. This is just like
any other licensed contractor that would come in to Mayfield Village to conduct their
business. They would submit to an inspection and as this ordinance is written, if they do it
before the deadline of May lst, there's no fee for the inspection. They just have to come in
Monday through Friday during business hours and we will conduct the inspection to ensure
they meet all of the safety requirements. So the sooner it passes, it gives them more time to
get in before there's a fee associated with us completing the inspection. That's just to help
us not have to do it during busy season when the vehicles are at the Grove or on Beta Drive
or Progressive. I just wanted to ask if you would entertain moving on this.
Council President Saponaro asked; does anyone have any questions or further discussion on
this? .
There was none.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
• First Reading of Ordinance No. 2019-04, entitled, "An Ordinance appropriating funds
for current expenses and expenditures for Mayfield Village, Ohio for the period from
January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2019 and declaring an emergency."
